My infatuation grew deeper the more I learned, and next thing I knew I was growing herbs from seed, drying them, making teas, tinctures, salves and poultices. My brother-in-law once walked by as I was making one of my herbal creations and said, “I’m going to start calling you a Kitchen Witch.” It was a real turning point for me, in a good way! So I decided my goal would be to sell teas at the farmers market to make some friends who love plants as much as I do.

The amount of support I’ve received from my local community astounded me, and I’m forever grateful for it. Now I have a fire lit under me to keep going.

And that’s my story! It’s still unraveling before my eyes, and I invite you to join me on this magical adventure. ✨

Herbs and Sage Advice

At the end of the growing season in my cozy zone 6b, I was left with an abundance of sage and wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. I started looking up medicinal uses, and quickly became completely enthralled by all the benefits of common plants and even… WEEDS. Who knew we all have medicine growing in our yards?

So I bought a book by Rosemary Gladstarr - who I later realized is the most famous person in the herbalism community - she is like our Oprah. 😂

How I became an herbalist and tea maker

My love for plants has been sort of like an invisible string throughout my life - from hiking national parks in my 20’s, studying biology and sustainability in Costa Rica, and now living on 22 beautiful acres in Kentucky. Since I was little, I’ve loved walking in bare feet, listening closely to the birds, and discovering how to grow your own food in a garden. I never thought this love for plants and nature could turn into a lifelong passion project, but here we are!
